We’re happy to share the realized projects of our two „Travel Grant 2019“ winners Brooke Adams and Antonio Giraldez Lopez.

Last year, GRAFT together with Marianne Birthler curated the German Pavilion at the 16th Architecture Biennale in Venice with an exhibition entitled „Unbuilding Walls“, dedicated to the 28th anniversary of the inner German border wall. The exhibition examined the unique spatial phenomenon of the void of the border zone, illustrated by twenty-eight projects that have since attempted to recode and reinhabit the former death strip in different ways.

In order to keep the spirit of UNBUILDING WALLS alive, we decided to grant two travel fellowships of 3.000 € each to two winning student’s proposals examining the topic of built, physical or strategic interventions aimed at overcoming barriers, taking the form of a concrete project or of political nature.

The topic for the next GRAFT Travel Grant Call will be announced soon, so stay tuned if you are interested in applying!
