GRAFT book launch and panel discussion at Biennale Opening in Venice
GRAFT founding partners Lars Krückeberg, Wolfram Putz, and Thomas Willemeit will present their new publication “ARCHITECTURE ACTIVISM” with an official book launch event at BerührungsPUNKTE-Meetingpoint in Palazzo Contarini Polignac on Thursday, 26th of May from 11-12 am during the opening week of the 15th International Architecture Exhibition “Biennale Architettura” in Venice.
The book launch will be accompanied by a panel discussion with Ute Weiland (Alfred Herrhausen Society), Joee Osea Addo (Constructs LLC), and Rozana Montiel Saucedo (Rozana Montiel Estudio de Arquitectura). The discussion will be moderated by Francesca Ferguson (UrbanDrift).
In addition to the book launch event, GRAFT founding partner Thomas Willemeit will take part at a symposium of the Bund Deutscher Architekten BDA (Association of German Architects) on Saturday, the 28th of May between 11 am and 1 pm at the German Pavilion in Giardini.
Linked to the Biennale contribution of the German Pavilion “Making Heimat – Germany, Arrival Country” the symposium addresses “The Relocation of Humanity” (Der Umzug der Menschheit) due to global refugee movements and climate change. Other participants are Heiner Farwick (President of BDA), Peter Cachola Schmal (Commissioner General German contribution to the Biennale and Director of DAM Frankfurt), Dr. Barbara Hendricks (Federal Minister for Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety), Prof. Dr. Naika Foroutan, (Deputy Director Berlin Institute for Empirical Integration and Migration Research), Prof. Dr. H. C. Dr. Hans Joachim Schellnhuber (Director of Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and Chairman of the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU)), and Doug Saunders (Author).
