This is modern: German Werkbund exhibition in Venice

On the occasion of the 14th International Architecture Biennale in Venice and the one hundred year anniversary of the Werkbund exhibition in cologne in 1914 the German Werkbund Berlin presents an exhibition on the position of contemporary architecture and design in Germany: 22 German architects who are present in the public perception demonstrate their different positioning and opinions regarding a design task, the latter being the examination of the German pavilion in Venice, whose demolition was called for by the president of the federal chamber of architects a few years ago.

The building has now been designated as dilapidated and the architects were given the possibility of a new building on the same site. 22 different approaches in plans, sketches and models give the viewer the possibility of comparison and evaluation. By hosting this event the German Werkbund Berlin wants to fulfill his obligation to the critical dialogue between divergent attitudes and professional groups as well as illustrate its cultural aspect and standard.
