On February 5, Germany has been united exactly as long as the Berlin Wall existed (1961-1989) – 28 years.On the occasion of this parallel the curators of the German Pavilion Lars Krückeberg, Wolfram Putz, Thomas Willemeit, and Marianne Birthler presented first details about their exhibition UNBUILDING WALLS today at an official press conference at the Berlin Wall Memorial in Berlin. State Secretary Gunther Adler and the Director of the Berlin Wall foundation Axel Klausmeier also gave speeches.

With UNBUILDING WALLS, the curators will use this parallel as an opportunity to examine the effects of division and the process of healing as a dynamic spatial phenomenon.

The 16th International Architecture Exhibition will take place from May 26th to November 25th 2018 (Preview May 24th and 25th) in the Giardini and the Arsenale, and around other venues in Venice.
