Topping out ceremony at checkpoint Charlie
On Friday March 9 2018 the builders on the site, the client Trockland, and the GRAFT architects commonly celebrated the topping out ceremony on the project site of Charlie Living. The constructed complex will be composed by 241 apartments and 48 service-apartments in future. Moreover a building with a mixed function will repair the historical gap. It will comprise apartments for rent with a community space and reception along with an apartment hotel, shops, and a restaurant on an area of 33,200 sqm in total.
The building is structured in a two leveled base that picks up the line of the adjacent historical buildings and frames a glazed section that picks up the height of the former Berlin Wall at this point. The courtyard is characterized by domestic and non-native plants and creates a green oasis in the urban surrounding, creating a calm atmosphere. A roof garden completes this hybrid “garden city” in the heart of Berlin.
The project will be completed in 2019.
