GRAFT won a competition for the NBC Universal Television Network’s Sci-Fi Channel to create an imaginative and innovative exhibition stand to showcase their brand. As an identifiable Sci-Fi icon, the aim of the exhibition stand was to attract consumers and engage them with the channel’s identity and programming.
A departure from traditional exhibition design in which space is defined through the classical architectonic expression of wall, floor and ceiling, the Sci-Fi Channel Exhibition Stand grafted these tectonic elements into one continuous sculptural figure that allocates zones of occupancy while simultaneously satisfying specific functional requirements. The exhibition stand became a freestanding autonomous object in which furniture, audio, video, and multimedia were imbedded within, projected upon and disseminated from its performative modulated fiberglass skin.
